Cherokee novelist Faith Phillips created a new literary subgenre, Okie Noir, with her true-crime novel “Now I Lay Me Down.” 

Andrea L. Rogers’ “Mary And The Trail Of Tears: A Cherokee Removal Survival Story” made NPR’s 2020 “Books We Love” list. 

And last year, Oscar Hokeah’s “Calling for a Blanket Dance” was named in Time’s “100 Must-Read Books of 2022.”
